In the deep midwinter

Hello. In darkest Fife. Nearly time for the Winter Solstice and we've just had a wee bit of snow. A glittery of snow on top of a sparkly of frost. Pretty to look at. When you're wrapped up in hats and scarves and gloves and many, many layers and you know a nice warm cottage is at the end of the path.

Here's something for the longest night - The Sunshine Makers - as seen on BoingBoing.

Big warm solstice hug from Bear and Madame

um, cough, shuffle, need a holiday ...

I'm a bit embarrassed about my "fear of Tom Waits" confession. On the other hand I am trying to be open and honest. Possibly. Perhaps. Maybe yes. Maybe no. Anyway ...

I think that it would be nice idea for me to have a holiday to get over all my trauma but every time I mention this to Her she growls at me from under her pile of bank statements.

I haven't told her about Toy Voyagers yet - thank you, Travel Ted - so if she doesn't shape up and get unbusy soon I'm going to tag myself and see if I can get a posting somewhere exotic. A beach, a bear, and a deck chair ...

Until then I will be watching Mr Darthkittenlover producing one of his most excellent Wondermark strips. Over and over again. And humming "Icky Thump". Because it is still the best thing since ears.

Holiday in my head

Yay! She went out today. An end to the death bed scenes. And I spent the day doing nothing. Nothing at all. And I did it lying down. I could have spent some time pondering the Japanese Army's campaign of cuteness (as seen in Tokyo Mango). I could have thought big poetic thoughts. Could have thought more about the Oasis problem. Didn't. Did nothing. It was brilliant. I wonder if it's too late to become a sloth.

She's come back with 2 new alarm clocks. Yes, mornings are fun in this house. And more clothes. Tsk. She's brought me a copy of Lenore. Thought it was a bit babyish at first but then I got to the bit where the Easter Bunny got squished. Big fun. And Samurai Sloth. I could be Ninja Sloth. That's my plan for tomorrow. Indolence by stealth.
